In the first of a series of Top Mods.. Introducing the Top Splitters for your GT86

Do you ever hear yourself saying...

"Wow I have too much ground clearance!”

OR

"I want to turn my daily into a pain in the ass”

Then have I got some options for you

1. Flow Designs Australia

Designed and manufactured by an Australian company the Flow Designs Australia item is sure to impress at $350. Although it isn't made from street-cred inducing carbon fiber, it is made from Polyethylene Composite which FLOW claims is basically bomb proof for all that sideways entries onto speed-bumps. I enjoy the simplicity of this Splitter with its balance of aggression, form and function. It comes with everything needed to install to a stock body 86. Just make sure you don't mount the support beams to your front grill to avoid looking like a poser, do it the right way and bolt it to something sturdy.

2. Seibon Style

This humble ABS plastic front splitter is my choice for my own 86. Its affordable, extremely resilient to scraping and in my opinion feels like an OEM addition to the 86 front bumper. It is sold by CT Auto Parts, a company which has supported the Australian 86 community with many group buys and are known to deliver quickly and at great prices. This one will set you back about $199, mine has lasted 5 years, I am confident it will last another 5.

3. Tom's Style

The Toms Style splitter offered by ausbodyworks is a handsome spoiler which fits the lines of the 86 perfectly. It will suit people that want to add some flair to their 86 without losing much ground clearance. I think it looks quite Initial-D spec unpainted on white, which I can get on-board with. This one will set you back about $220 + Paint (if you're not a fan of Tofu).

4. TRD

What is there not to love about the TRD Front bumper extension? I love the black touches around the fog lights, visually striking and OEM quality what more could you want? Now, the down side is that you pay quite handsomely for the privilege... from TRD Japan this will cost you over $500 + International delivery for an un-painted unit.

5. Toyota AERO

Some of you will already have this fitted to your 86 but for those that don't this can be a great OEM addition to your car. These will cost you an arm and a leg to buy directly from Toyota ($1000+) so keep an eye out for people selling the entire front bumper online as there is some drilling involved to get these to fit correctly and once its fitted there's no going back. What was Toyota thinking with that shopping trolley wing... more on that another time!
